Beautiful in Shaw - the 1300 block of 10th Street, NW

This series of posts will focus on something beautiful in Shaw - a particularly striking house, a beautiful garden, architectural elements, people, pets - whatever and wherever I (or any of you) find something that makes you smile. Feel free to send ideas (and photos!) to me at shawdeservesbetter@gmail.com

I agree, this is a pretty basic looking house in Shaw. Though, the cornice work and the restoration in and of itself is pretty fantastic. That being said, I bet none of you are expecting the awesome rear addition after the jump facing Naylor Court...

So, what do you think? Awesome adaptive re-use of a historic building to modern needs? Or an abomination of something from it's original form? For reference, this house looks from the front like it's a twin to the neighboring house (shown in the photo from the rear on the left), so you can see what was likely there before this rehabilitation. Your thoughts?

  2. I've seen this house and always thought it was one of the cooler houses in the area.

I think it's a great looking block in general.
