UPDATED: Mood Lounge requests Status Hearing; will appeal ABRA license suspension

Update from Councilmember Jack Evan's office - the ABRA Status Hearing for Mood Lounge scheduled for tomorrow at 11:30am has been POSTPONED. New date is Friday, January 13th. Mood remains closed awaiting the hearing.

The Mood Lounge, at 1318 9th Street, NW, was first subject to a 96 hour emergency closure by Chief of Police Cathy Lanier following a December 30th double stabbing in front of the establishment. As that closure was set to expire, the DC Alcoholic Beverage Regulatory Authority issued a Notice of Summary Suspension which provided more detail about the incident and closed the Lounge indefinitely.



Today, Councilmember Jack Evans office is reporting that the Mood Lounge has appealed this suspension and will face a hearing tomorrow Friday, January 13th at 11:30am before the ABRA Board. For those who wish to attend, this is located in the Reeves Center at 2000 14th Street, NW, Suite 400S. Anyone who has an opinion of the impact this establishment has had on the neighborhood should try to be there.
